More ABOUT DIAMONDS…
Diamonds are made from carbon and are naturally the hardest substance known. They also happen to refract light amazingly so when well cut they sparkle like no other gem stone - we call this ‘scintillation’ or ‘brilliance’. For coloured diamonds, blue, green, orange and red are the rarest; yellow and brown are the most common. Diamond weight is measured in carats and we grade the colour of white diamonds from D which is colourless down to Z.
We aim for D-G colour grades and high purities where no inclusions (flaws) are easily seen at x 10 magnification and certainly not with the naked eye.
Prices of diamond vary considerable with changes in colour, cut, clarity as well as other physical characteristics such as florescence.
